Initiated and presented by the Association for the Advancement of the Center for Applied Aeronautical Research (ZAL), the ZAL.award honors groundbreaking projects that drive the ZAL ecosystem forward. The finalists have now been selected: On November 25, 2024, the jury determined the three shortlisted entries. All three projects demonstrate innovation, technological excellence, and forward-thinking collaboration.
The Shortlist:
- Dassault Systèmes: “Systems Engineering Application for Better Design and Analysis of an Assembly Process”
- Hamburg Airport: “Hydrogen Aviation Lab”
- Helmut-Schmidt-University/University of the Bundeswehr Hamburg: “BETA – Fuel Cell System Development for Technical Aviation”
The Jury
The finalists were chosen by a diverse jury that combines fresh perspectives with extensive experience in the aviation industry:
- Carsten Laufs, Aerospace Tech Lead, Diehl Aviation
- Heike Lagemann, Young Talent, proTechnicale alumna and student
- Kathrin Haug, Innovation Committee Member, Hamburg Chamber of Commerce
- Mario Vesco, Aerospace Expert, Sustainable Aero Lab
- Wolfgang Borgmann, Media Representative, AERO International
The countdown to the award ceremony is on
The winners will be announced on December 12, 2024, during a festive awards ceremony. In addition to the ZAL.award trophy, the winners will receive a professional video and the opportunity to present their project as part of the ZAL.award event, held on December 12, 2024, at 3:15 PM in the auditorium—just before the ZAL Christmas Market.
