Flying taxis and ambulance drones – hardly any other aviation segment has been as hyped and discussed recently as Urban Air Mobility. It’s an area where not only new players like Joby Aviation and Lilium are active, but also long-established manufacturers like Airbus and Embraer – the latter of which recently unveiled its new air cab brand called Eve Air Mobility.

While these aircraft may seem new and innovative now, they will end up flying in a familiar and established airspace. And they will have to share it with all other forms of aviation. How do you bring this together? Where will drones and air cabs make sense from an economic and geographic perspective? Will We see these new aircraft flying by the end of 2026, as promised by some manufacturers…?

That’s what Flavia Ciaccia, vice president of user experience at EmbraerX spinoff Eve Air Mobility, and David Solar, head of general aviation and VTOL at the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), discussed at the Nov. 10 ZAL Innovation Talk “Urban Air Mobility 5 Years From Now.”
