Jugend forscht 2026 at ZAL

On February 12 and 13, the Finkenwerder regional competition of Jugend forscht was hosted at the ZAL TechCenter for the first time. Over the course of two days, more than 90 young researchers presented their projects at the innovation marketplace.

The range of topics was broad: Some teams brought working prototypes – such as a smart trash bin that automatically detects and sorts waste. Others explored interesting research questions such as “Are weather apps trustworthy?” or “Does presentation affect taste?”.

On the first day of the competition, the children and teenagers presented their work to a jury. Many of the jury members came from the ZAL community. With great interest, critical questions, and constructive feedback, they took the time to review the projects and offered participants advice on how to further develop their demonstrators or refine their research questions.

The second day concluded with the award ceremony. For ZAL, this was the first time hosting the Finkenwerder regional competition of Jugend forscht.
