On June 28 we hosted another X meets Aviation event. Together with Dassault Systèmes and Drees & Sommer we focused on Circular Economy. To kick things off, three keynotes presented the environmental, social and economic goals associated with the CE model. Followed by an interdisciplinary exchange among the participants in a World Café format.
A core element of CE is to tackle global and environmental challenges by designing reusable products. According to the “Cradle to Cradle” concept, resources are not be wasted but reused. To design and manufacture recyclable aircraft one needs a holistic approach from design to production processes and materials. Digital technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, and data analytics are considered essential enablers of the CE. Another aspect is how an industrial system such as aviation (which uses digital technologies along the product lifecycle phases) can implement circular strategies.
In line with the dimension of the issues discussed, there was a lively exchange.
